St. Ann 's Community FIRST IN NATION to receive

CARF Accreditation in Resident Centered Care

St. Ann 's Community is proud to be the FIRST IN THE UNITED STATES to achieve CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) Person Centered Long Term Care Community (PCLTCC) Accreditation and the only organization to complete a blended survey for both Long Term Care and Transitional Care types of accreditation.

“This is a tremendous accomplishment and honor,” shared Betty Mullin-DiProsa, President and CEO of St. Ann's Community. “The staff and volunteers here at St. Ann 's Community are dedicated to serving our residents first and foremost and earning this accreditation is proof of a job well-done. We are also thrilled that we could be the first in the nation to achieve this recognition of excellence!"

In February, representatives from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) visited St. Ann 's Community to survey their Long Term Care Program and Transitional Care Program. A team of surveyors comprehensively investigated the programs to ensure conformance to the stringent standards established by CARF for person-centered care and medical rehabilitation.

The CARF standards are developed with input from consumers, aging services, health care and rehabilitation professionals, state and national organizations, and insurance company representatives. Every year the standards are reviewed and new ones are developed to keep pace with changing conditions and current consumer needs.

CARF accreditation is much more than a certificate on the wall. It is evidence that St. Ann 's Community strives to improve efficiency, fiscal health, and service delivery -- creating a foundation for continuous quality improvement and consumer satisfaction.

The benefits of accreditation to the consumer of services means that by choosing CARF-accredited programs and services they receive the assurance that:

  • The programs or services actively involve consumers in selecting, planning, and using services.
  • The organization's programs and services have met consumer-focused, state-of-the-art international standards of performance.
  • These standards were developed with the involvement and input of consumers.
  • The organization is focused on assisting each consumer in achieving his or her chosen goals and outcomes.

CARF is a private, not-for-profit organization that promotes quality rehabilitation and aging services. It does this by establishing standards of quality for organizations to use as guidelines in developing and offering their programs or services to consumers. CARF uses the standards to determine how well an organization is serving its consumers and how it can improve.

St. Ann 's Community provides a varied range of services and care levels designed to meet the individual needs of older adults. St. Ann's includes two licensed, and certified skilled nursing facilities, medical and social adult day programs, independent retirement housing, assisted living and specialized dementia care, hospice care and a geriatric outpatient primary care practice located on two campuses in the Greater Rochester area, plus part ownership in Traditions in Caring, a licensed Home Care agency.
